Kai Krause. Education. Motivation.
Idyllwild Arts Academy (Film Diploma)
Living in Idyllwild taught me how to be an artist.
Metropolitan Film School (BA Hons. in Cinematography)
Living in London taught me how to light a scene.
American Film Institute Conservatory (MFA in Cinematography)
Living in Los Angeles taught me how to be a cinematographer.
I have been very fortunate to be able to make use of my education over the past years, shooting countless Music Videos, Commercials, and Narrative projects all over the world, with an eclectic group of clients and collaborators. My projects range from Land Rover, BMW, and Gatorade to high-profile videos for artists like Ozuna, J. Balvin, and Celiné Dion. Alongside those continuously exciting shoots, I aim to pursue my love and dedication for narrative filmmaking. Above all, I am a visual Storyteller.
I spent my childhood traveling to wherever my father was filming.
I had the fortune to walk on every continent by age twelve
and had seen over forty countries before I turned sixteen.
Even if those days are long in the past,
my love for exploring the world has not changed.
Experiencing different cultures is my creative driving force.
I've always been inspired by the works of great cinematographers.
Whether they are personal mentors like Seamus McGarvey, ASC, BSC
or idols like Emmanuel Lubezki, ASC, AMC,
nothing influences my work more than watching great cinema.
